Eyes to eyes
heart to heart
I want to tell you
I accepted all the lies
even if they broke me apart
In my mind, you lived
through my soul, I feel
the love I once
had for you.

If there is anything life never ceases to teach me is how much love we have , missed and crave. And how crucial is the time we spend, have spent with the wrong people, not taking the hardest road to find our way back sooner than that.
There was a time where talking about love was such a hassle, all because I was not given, taught and showed love, when as kid, I desperately needed it.
As I have grown to become such an extreme self- sufficient woman, that was forced to accept and settled for the trope of "strong black woman" ; that could do it all, be it all but will never feel it all and will wave it all as in "it does not bother me" ... well it does ! It did !
Now that I know better ...
And this is how I rectify it. By speaking about it, embracing it, feeling all of it to then finally healing all of it.
To whoever finds this poem, may you never have to doubt that you are indeed loved and more than enough.
May you never try so hard to prove that.
May you never have to beg for the bare minimum
May you never find or be around avoidant, emotionally immature people, that you will have to teach them how to be who they will never be or want to be.
May you love yourself as hard as you have you lived them. So their so called love will never hurt you if it is not consistent.
May you respect yourself enough to know when to leave and bon ever go back to what broke you once.
May you heal and be happy if not forever at least long enough to let all bad memories, pain, brokenness, go.
Akoma.
